A Lesson in Jalepenos

Here is what I learned last night:

Do not clean out a hot pepper with your bare hands.

That being said, does anybody know how to get it off your hands? I washed them about 10 times, and also soaked them in lemon juice. Neither worked very well...

Another suggestion I've read online (after a very brief Google-based search) is to use white vinegar.

Lemon juice is supposed to work as well.

If I find anything else, I will post!

That forum is one I've visited in the past and the thread has a lot of interesting suggestions.

The most seemingly pertinent/useful ones were to:

A) Use a near-100% alchohol solution -- the more alcohol the better -- as it seems to remove the chemical that attaches to human hands from peppers.

B) Use tomato paste. Get a bowl and fill it with tomato sauce or tomato paste. Soak 1 hand for 15-20 minutes and then switch to the other. You can do both simultaneously if you don't mind not using your hands for up to 20 minutes..

I hope that these help!

I tried the lemon thing and it didnt work much. So I just tried to avoid scratching my eyes or anything. Definately not recommended!! Good info - will try both as I seem to still have some residual pepper.
